NewJeans sings ‘GODS’ before the 2023 LOL World Championship Final

NewJeans performed the opening for the ‘2023 League of Legends (LoL) World Championship’ finals, which took place at 5 p.m. on the 19th at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome.

NewJeans is the first K-pop group to perform as a whole on the LOL World Championship stage. They sang ‘GODS,’ the official theme song of this year.

NewJeans stated, “As this is a special occasion to unveil the performance of this year’s theme song ‘GODS,’ we put a lot of thought into how to express the powerful feeling of ‘GODS’ well.”

NewJeans expressed their determination, saying, “‘GODS’ will be performed to convey the grandeur of the song and music video on stage.”

On this day, along with NewJeans, the LoL universe’s ‘virtual artist’ HEARTSTEEL also appeared, heating up the atmosphere. EXO’s Baekhyun participated as the vocal for HEARTSTEEL.

Meanwhile, Riot Games Korea held a street cheering event for the World Cup finals on the 19th at Gwanghwamun Square. To allow 5,000 people to cheer together, a large stage has been set up at Gwanghwamun Square’s six-way intersection.

CGV, which screened LCK and MSI, has also prepared to welcome fans by significantly increasing the number of theaters for the World Cup finals between T1 and Weibo Gaming. CGV has set up facilities in 43 locations nationwide, with over 100 theaters and more than 20,000 seats.
