On the morning of the 22nd, NewJeans expressed their feelings through their agency ADOR, saying “It’s such an honor to receive a commendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. We are truly grateful to people who have loved popular culture and Bunnies (NewJeans’s official fanclub)”. They added, “Given this award, we believe that we should work harder in the future and continue to become NewJeans who can contribute to the development of popular culture”.

Creating a syndrome as soon as they debuted in July last year, NewJeans has emerged as a global popular artist by releasing several hit songs, including the single “OMG” in January this year and the second mini album “Get Up” in July. They entered the two major global pop song charts US’s Billboard HOT 100 and the UK’s Official Single Chart Top 100 within a year of their debut with “OMG”. NewJeans also proved their digital power by setting the longest charting time on Melon with “Ditto” (99 days).

NewJeans’s second mini album “Get Up” entered Billboard 200 and its three title songs “Super Shy”, “ETA” and “Cool With You” also appeared on Billboard Hot 100. In particular, “Get Up” has stayed on Billboard 200 for 12 consecutive weeks, making this the longest charting record for 4th-generation K-pop girl groups.

NewJeans also certified their impact and presence in the global music market by performing at various big music festivals, such as Lollapalooza in Chicago, US, Summer Sonic in Japan, etc., and decorating the covers of various global magazines.
