NewJeans Enters 2023’s Top 5 CD Sales in the US, Second Only to Taylor Swift among Female Artists 

According to the 2023 annual report released by Luminate, NewJeans’ second EP “Get Up” was sold 332,000 copies (based on single album physical CDs) in the United States, ranking fifth in U.S. Top CD Album Sales.

It is the highest ranking among K-pop female artists and the second highest among female artists after Taylor Swift’s “1989” (Taylor’s Version).

NewJeans made a strong impact on the North American market in 2023. With ‘Get Up,’ they achieved the top spot on the Billboard 200, the main album chart in the United States, in the shortest period (1 year) among K-pop groups (as of August 5, 2023). 

Staying on the chart for 24 consecutive weeks, NewJeans continues to set a record for the longest-charting period among 4th generation K-pop groups. In the ‘Hot 100’ chart of the Billboard main song chart, NewJeans placed five songs (‘OMG,’ ‘Ditto,’ ‘Super Shy,’ ‘ETA,’ ‘Cool With You’) in just the past year, showcasing their formidable strength.

Based on these achievements, NewJeans won the ‘Top Global K-pop Artist’ at the ‘Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs),’ one of the top three music awards in the United States, and became the first K-pop girl group to perform. Towards the end of 2023, NewJeans appeared as the first K-pop girl group on the biggest New Year’s Eve special show on ABC, ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2024.’ 

Luminate also released the annual report for 2023 based on the analysis of data on physical album (CD, LP, etc.) sales, digital downloads, audio streaming, and other music-related metrics and trends in the United States from December 30, 2022, to December 28, 2023.
