On the weekly trending chart released on August 5 by K-Pop Radar, a U.S. K-Pop exclusive dashboard, rookie girl group New Jeans, who recently debuted with the first mini album of the same name, took first place with “Attention”, one of their three title tracks.

According to K-Pop Radar, NewJeans’ “Attention” MV recorded 7.29 million views during the 4th week of July (July 22-28). In the same period, NewJeans’ Instagram followers increased by about 430,000, and Twitter followers also increased by about 200,000, showing an explosive rise in popularity.

Since NewJeans released their debut album on August 1, the group has achieved 2.06 million streams, 226,000 cumulative listeners, and 88,000 cumulative followers on Spotify within the same day. All three categories are the highest records for a K-pop girl group that debuted this year.

“New Jeans” also recorded more than 440,000 pre-order copies within just three days, setting a new record in first-week sales for a girl group’s debut album.

Previously, the highest first-week sales for a girl group’s debut album was around 307,000 copies set by HYBE x Source Music’s girl group LE SSERAFIM with their 1st mini album “FEARLESS”.

ADOR is a sub-label under HYBE and is headed by Min Hee Jin, former creative director of SM Entertainment, who produced concepts for Girls’ Generation, f(x), and Red Velvet.

New Jeans consists of five members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein from Korea, Vietnam and Australia. They received a lot of attention as “Min Hee Jin’s girl group” even before their debut.
