Netizens Suggest BABYMONSTER Make a Re-Debut Amid Mixed Reactions

BABYMONSTER’s long-awaited debut has been deemed underwhelming

Despite it being only a few weeks since BABYMONSTER unveiled their debut single, “BATTER UP,” mixed reactions, mainly negative, have been pouring in.

Netizens’ disappointment started with the prolonged delay leading up to BABYMONSTER’s debut and got worse when Ahyeon, the most popular member, withdrew from the debut lineup. Upon the debut, the disappointment continued with YG’s choice of song and concept for BABYMONSTER.

“BATTER UP” has a distinctive YG sound, but is deemed “outdated, repetitive” and lacking the wow factor. The public was looking forward to a more refreshing sound and concept from BABYMONSTER, given the members’ young age and bright visuals.

Furthermore, fans are especially confused by BABYMONSTER’s shockingly lack of promotions for a rookie. BABYMONSTER is not performing on any music shows or appearing in any variety show. The members’ activities on social media are also minimal.

Fans are pointing fingers at YG for not promoting BABYMONSTER properly. With the fiercely competitive K-pop girl group landscape featuring chart-topping 4th gen groups like IVE, aespa, LE SSERAFIM, (G)I-DLE, and NewJeans, YG giving BABYMONSTER almost zero promotions is not helping them.

A post recently surfaced on a Korean online community suggesting BABYMONSTER undergoes a “re-debut.” Speculation revolves around the potential future inclusion of Ahyeon in BABYMONSTER’s lineup for a real debut.

However, no evidence supports this theory aside from the fact that YG previously announced Ahyeon might join the group later on.

Apart from negative reactions, many netizens still expressed support for BABYMONSTER’s debut, anticipating that a successful first comeback later on could change the public’s view on them.
