A Korean netizen claims to have been sued for defaming JTBC’s drama “Snowdrop”.
On April 6th, on the online community Clien, a post titled “I have been sued by JTBC regarding ‘Snowdrop’. Please help me,” was made and drew attention.
The writer of the post, A, shared a link to the post they uploaded to the community in the past and a screenshot of some of its content.
At that time, A titled their post ‘Snowdrop getting hit even by Dispatch’ and said, “Posts supporting Snowdrop surfaced again. Things like this arouse anger rather than reflection. NO JAPAN NO JTBC”. A also attached a part of an article from Dispatch criticizing Snowdrop, which was wrapped up in controversy over historical distortion at the time.
A said, “I was sued by JTBC and Drama House for the above post. They said they found my contact information by sending a seizure warrant to Clien.”
A added, “I carefully avoided direct mention, but this is ridiculous. I wonder if that could be a cause for complaint. Please advise on how to deal with this situation in the future.”
JTBC’s drama Snowdrop, which was previously accused of distorting history, announced to take legal action against the spread of false information related to the drama.
In a number of online communities, netizens revealed they received an email from JTBC titled ‘Request to stop spreading false information related to the drama Snowdrop’.
In the email, JTBC said, “In the early days of production, the drama’s synopsis was leaked, causing malicious edits of the plot to be circulated, and until now, the negative and misleading public opinion is resulting in the continued spread of false facts that differ from the actual drama.”
In addition, JTBC warned, “Please note that we plan to take strong measures against groundless slander and fabrications of facts that are not related to the setting of Snowdrop.”
