G-Dragon once caused controversy after posting a photo reminiscent of LSD drug
BIG BANG’s G-Dragon shocked everyone as he was recently booked on charges of taking drugs, continuing the series of drug controversies in the entertainment industry following Lee Sun-kyun’s case.
In the meantime, G-Dragon’s old SNS posts were also brought up. Especially, a photo he uploaded three years ago drew attention.
In March 2020, G-Dragon posted several photos on his Instagram with a clock emoji in the caption. Among the photos containing images of bags, shoes, watches, unique interiors, etc., the one with a yellow smiling face sticker on the tongue sparked controversy. The picture reminds people of LSD, a kind of illegal drugs, and speculations that G-Dragon might have touched drugs also poured out.
There were arguments over that SNS photo. Pointing out that G-Dragon had already been investigated by the police and prosecuted in 2011 for smoking marijuana, netizens believed that posting an image reminiscent of drugs on SNS was such a careless action although G-Dragon had already been free from drug allegations.
At that time, G-Dragon’s fans defended their idol with reasons that were quite unconvincing. They said G-Dragon used the image to raise a campaign to eradicate drugs. In this regard, G-Dragon did not comment or give any explanation, and the issues naturally ended.
Three years after the controversial photo was uploaded, G-Dragon was booked on charges of drug use. On October 25th, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency announced that they were investigating G-Dragon for violating the Narcotics Control Act. However, details regarding the types of drugs G-Dragon administered have not been revealed yet.
