Netflix’s “Aema” confirms cast including Honey Lee, Bang Hyo Rin, Jin Seon Kyu and Cho Hyun Chul

Netflix announced the production of “Aema” (directed by Lee Hae Young) and the casting of actors Honey Lee, Bang Hyo Rin, Jin Seon Kyu and Cho Hyun Chul.

“Aema” is a Netflix series that deals with the people involved in making the 1980s film “Madame Aema” in Chungmuro.

Honey Lee will play the role of Jeong Hee Ran, who is the best actress of the time but lost the lead role in the new movie “Madame Aema” due to a conflict with the producer. Honey Lee, who showed off her sly comic acting in the movies “Killing Romance”, “Extreme Job” and the dramas “One the Woman”, “The Fiery Priest”, transforms into Hee Ran, a rough and wild person who knows how to clearly judge right from wrong.

Netflix's "Aema" confirms cast

The role of Shin Joo Ae, a new actress chosen to play the lead role in “Madame Aema”, will be played by Bang Hyo Rin, who stood out in the short film industry with her unique atmosphere and dense emotional acting. Joo Ae goes from being an aspiring actress who made her living as a nightclub dancer to being selected as the main character of Chungmuro’s best hit work “Madame Aema”. Rookie Bang Hyo Rin plays Joo Ae, armed with fresh looks, passion for acting and boldness that is not inferior to anyone.

The role of producer Goo Joong Ho will be played by Jin Seon Kyu, who showed acting crossing the line between good and evil in “Count”, “Confidential Assignment 2: International”, “Space Sweepers”, “The Outlaws”, “The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch” and “Bargain”. Producer Joong Ho, who goes through fire and water to survive in the Chungmuro movie industry, enriches the narrative of the work by entrusting the lead role to a rookie actor selected through a large-scale audition to keep the out-of-control Hee Ran in check.

Cho Hyun Chul, who left a strong impression through “D.P.”, “Hotel del Luna”, “Mal-Mo-E: The Secret Mission” and “Samjin Company English Class”, was cast as Kwak In Woo, a dreamy and fainthearted rookie director who is about to make his directing debut with “Madame Aema”. He plans to revitalize the work with solid acting skills through the role of In Woo, who agonizes between various choices.

“Aema” is written and directed by director Lee Hae Young of the films “Believer”, “Phantom” and “Like a Virgin”. Regardless of genre, he has captivated the public with unique materials and attractive characters.

“Aema” is released only through Netflix.
