Netflix’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling is already drawing intense criticism online after reports revealed several of the drama’s rumored lead actors.
Based on the globally popular fantasy web novel and webtoon, Solo Leveling follows a world threatened by deadly monsters that continuously attack humanity. To fight back, specially gifted humans known as “hunters” risk their lives battling supernatural creatures. The story centers on Sung Jin Woo, an infamously weak hunter who unexpectedly gains mysterious powers after surviving a near-fatal incident, allowing him to become one of humanity’s strongest fighters.

Recent reports claimed that Byeon Woo Seok has been cast as Sung Jin Woo, while Han So Hee is reportedly set to play Cha Hae In. Kang Yoo Seok was also named as Yoo Jin Ho, with Kang Mina joining the project in an undisclosed role.

However, the casting lineup quickly became a hot topic across online communities, where many netizens openly questioned whether the actors could meet fans’ expectations for such a massive adaptation.

Some viewers criticized the cast for allegedly lacking the acting ability needed to carry a high-budget fantasy series, while others argued that the actors did not resemble the original webtoon characters closely enough.

Several comments rapidly spread online, including:
- “He doesn’t even seem to move naturally with his body.”
- “I still keep thinking about Im Si Wan instead.”
- “The visuals don’t match the characters at all.”
- “Who’s going to handle the acting?”
- “Everything already feels wrong starting from Sung Jin Woo.”
- “Honestly, this doesn’t make me excited whatsoever.”
