Netflix has confirmed the production of its new series Road (working title), revealing an impressive cast lineup including Son Seok-gu, Eita Nagayama, Kim Shin-rok, Choi Sung-eun, and Jung Jae-young.

Road (working title) follows two detectives as they chase a string of brutal murders that cross national borders. The mystery begins when a grotesquely twisted body is discovered in Tokyo, accompanied by a chilling message scrawled in Korean. Soon after, South Korea reports a similar case — a body with limbs contorted and a message written in Japanese — confirming the crimes are linked as part of a cross-border serial killing spree. Forced into cooperation, detectives from both nations embark on a joint investigation to uncover the truth.

The series is based on the manhwa Blue Road. Director Han Jun-hee described the project as “an intense transnational crime drama that follows two detectives fighting with everything they have to catch the killer.” Known for his stylish visuals and gripping storytelling in past works, Han aims to deliver an even more layered and suspenseful narrative in this adaptation.

The casting lineup adds to the excitement. Son Seok-gu takes on the role of the Korean detective, while acclaimed Japanese actor Eita Nagayama plays his Japanese counterpart, setting the stage for a powerful acting showdown. Kim Shin-rok appears as a Korean-Japanese businesswoman aiding the investigation, Choi Sung-eun portrays a government agent pursuing the case from a different angle, and Jung Jae-young enters as a mysterious man of unknown identity.

Road (working title) will be released exclusively on Netflix.
