Netflix confirms production of Kim Woo Bin and Kim Sung Kyun’s film “Officer Black Belt”

The production of director Kim Joo Hwan’s new film “Officer Black Belt”, starring Kim Woo Bin and Kim Sung Kyun, has been confirmed.

“Officer Black Belt” is an action comedy film about Lee Jung Do (Kim Woo Bin), a martial arts prodigy with a ninth-degree black belt in Taekwondo, Kendo and Judo, working with probation officer Kim Seon Min (Kim Sung Kyun) to monitor and fight crimes.

The unfamiliar title “Officer Black Belt” refers to those who do the special job of monitoring people subject to probation due to high risk of reoffence, to prevent crimes and protect the safety of citizens. A martial arts master teams up with a probation officer to form a team of two. They protect parolees from potential dangers and subdue criminals.

In this movie, Kim Woo Bin takes on the role of Lee Jung Do, who can’t ignore when seeing people getting into trouble even when working as a deliveryman for his father’s chicken restaurant. Jung Do is an ordinary and carefree young man who spends time playing games at PC rooms, drinking with friends, and chatting, but what makes him special among others is his exceptional martial arts skills. He has a black belt in all three disciplines: Taekwondo, Kendo, and Judo, with each at a third degree, combining to make a total of 9 degrees. The story begins when Lee Jung Do coincidentally saves a martial arts field officer from an attack by a criminal wearing an electronic ankle bracelet and ends up working as a martial arts field officer for five weeks.

Kim Sung Kyun will play Kim Seon Min in this movie, a probation officer who manages violent criminals wearing electronic ankle bracelets because he wants to do something helpful for people. Becoming a temporary partner with Lee Jung Do, he later recognizes Lee Jung Do’s talent and intuition then suggests he becomes a martial arts field officer. The meeting between Kim Seon Min, who has a great sense of duty and expertise, and Lee Jung Do, who has impressive martial arts skills and confidence, will create a remarkable synergy. The film promises tension and realistic action scenes as these two chase down and stop heinous criminals trying to cut off their ankle bracelets and commit crimes, along with delightful comedy centering on the righteous and bright young man Lee Jung Do and his friends.
