Netflix co-CEO “My wife is a big fan of ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’, Korean content is amazing”

Netflix’s co-CEO Ted Sarandos mentioned the differences and strengths of Korean content and Hollywood content.

The “Netflix and Korean content story” event was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul at 10:30 AM on June 22nd. Netflix’s co-CEO Ted Sarandos, Netflix content executives and Korean content creators attended the event.

Ted Sarandos

Ted Sarandos said, “I think Korea is a country with great storytelling. Korean storytelling seems to reflect history to some extent. What’s interesting is that fashion, music, food and storytelling go together. There’s no other country that gives off that feeling as much as Korea. All these various elements are buried in beautiful stories. Another strength is that there’s no fixed formula. You have the autonomy to do great storytelling. Therefore, Korean content has quality both commercially and creatively. When viewers around the world watch Korean dramas, they’re fascinated by beautiful scenes, spaces and unpredictable stories.”

Extraordinary Attorney Woo

He confessed, “American viewers love Korean dramas, for example ‘Squid Game’. My wife is a big fan of ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo‘. After watching a drama, they fall in love with not only that drama but also a completely new genre. I think it’s the individuality and power of Korean content that surprises and excites viewers.”

He added, “People take pride in making great films. People nationally support great directors with pride like heroes. It’s also unique that creators receive such things. Other countries aren’t like that.”
