Namgoong Min’s Remarkable Mental Strength: Harsh Criticism During Rookie Days, Yoo Jae Suk’s Impressed

On July 26th, actor Namgoong Min appeared as a guest on tvN’s entertainment show ‘You Quiz on the Block.’

During the show, Namgoong Min revealed, “I had an overwhelming passion for acting during my rookie days. Even if I received criticism on set, it didn’t hurt me.” In particular, he mentioned an incident where he got yelled at while acting due to a lighting stand falling when the wind blew. He said, “It wasn’t my fault, but the staff yelled at me, even swearing. I was just standing there quietly.”

He then continued, “I was the reason for every NG (outtake). So, I kept saying, ‘Sorry, my mistake, I’ll do it again, I’ll do better.’ Yoo Jae Suk was impressed by this. 

Namgoong Min shared, “During my supporting role days, I was always the target of criticism. I started off as an extra and always received insults. But I felt good because I was acting.” Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Se Ho marveled at his mental strength.

He went on to say, “After shooting, the director would pour soju into large glasses and tell us to drink it for no reason. I had no choice but to drink. I drank a shot and lost consciousness right away. It was a situation where you had to drink whether you wanted to or not, and whether you drank or not, you’d still get insulted.”

Hearing this, MC Yoo Jae Suk angrily confessed that he had a similar experience. Yoo Jae Suk said, “I don’t understand why they try to establish such relationships. I can’t handle alcohol, but even when I declined, they would say, ‘Don’t let him drink,’ and wouldn’t let me appear on the program.”
