After participating in The Weeknd’s drama “The Idol”, BLACKPINK Jennie also worked with the Canadian star on a soundtrack.
Recently, BLACKPINK Jennie became the center of attention at the launch of the “Jennie for Calvin Klein” collection. Not only did Jennie’s appearance become the talk of town, a song played at the event also became a hot topic.
In particular, the said song was played by the DJ duo Simi Khadra and Haze Khadra, and featured voices extremely similar to Jennie and The Weekend.
The aforementioned moment was captured by DAZED Korea and published on SNS. Later on, Jennie herself shared the video on her Instagram story, and tagged the official accounts of The Weeknd and “The Idol”, an HBO drama in which she appears. This sparked speculations that Jennie and The Weeknd have worked on a collaboration song, possibly as a soundtrack for “The Idol”.
Recently, however, GENIUS, a website specializing in updating music information, suddenly uploaded an article for a song titled “One of the Girls (Tough Love)”, along with all of the lyrics, and credited Jennie and The Weeknd. As a result, fans believed that this is the official title and lyrics of Jennie and The Weeknd collaboration.
On the other hand, according to Genius, “One of the Girls (Tough Love)” was written by Jennie and The Weeknd themselves and arranged by the famous producer MIKE DEAN. It is also listed as the third track in the soundtrack album of “The Idol”.
It is also known that back on April 10th, The Weeknd also hinted at the same song title.
Currently, all information provided by GENIUS has not been confirmed. However, based on the catchy melodies that were played at the fashion event, the collaboration between Jennie and The Weeknd is likely to be loved by many after its release.
Meanwhile, “The Idol” is expected to premiere on HBO on June 4th. To date, there has not been much information about the supporting role that Jennie takes on in this series.
