On December 11, the Seoul Western District Court’s Criminal Division 11, presided over by Judge Heo Jun-seo, held the first hearing for Nam Tae-hyun, who faces charges of violating the Road Traffic Act.

When asked by the court if he acknowledged the charges, Nam Tae-hyun replied, “Yes,” admitting to driving under the influence. He also described his occupation as a “company employee.”

The incident occurred on April 27 at approximately 4:10 a.m. near Dongjak Bridge on the Gangbyeonbuk-ro highway, heading toward Ilsan. Nam, intoxicated at the time, attempted to overtake a car and collided with the median barrier. His blood alcohol concentration measured 0.122%, exceeding the legal license suspension threshold of 0.08%.

In addition to drunk driving, Nam Tae-hyun is also charged with speeding, having driven at 182 km/h in a zone with an 80 km/h speed limit. The next court date is scheduled for January 15, 2026.

This is not Nam Tae-hyun’s first traffic-related offense. In March 2023, he was caught driving under the influence at a level warranting license suspension. He later received a 6 million won fine in July 2023.

Nam Tae-hyun has also faced legal issues related to his former girlfriend, Seo Min-jae, involving methamphetamine use. Both were tried and received suspended sentences on January 18, 2024, for violating the Narcotics Control Act. Nam Tae-hyun was sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year probation, while Seo Min-jae received ten months with a two-year probation.
