“Ms. Marvel” Iman Vellani, “Park Seo-joon is a really cool person”

On the morning of June 3rd, a press conference for Marvel’s original series “Ms. Marvel” presented by Disney+ was held online.

Actress Iman Vellani and directors Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah attended the event to talk about the work. Iman Vellani, who made her first challenge as an actress through “Ms. Marvel”, said, “I didn’t intend to be an actress from the beginning. When I was in high school, I read all the original ‘Ms. Marvel’ and was such a fan that I wore a ‘Ms. Marvel’ costume on Halloween. I thought I should audition for it, and I’ve got to where I am now. I’m very satisfied, so I plan to continue my activities.”

About playing “Kamala”, Iman Vellani shared, “I can say that I lived Kamala Khan’s life. When I was a high school student, even smallest things felt big in love, friendship, meeting and breaking up with someone. Using animation elements for these parts, I tried to express how greatly exaggerated these little things in a character’s life can be. All of this seems to be intertwined as part of the narrative of growth.”

When asked if she feels responsible for playing the role of “Ms. Marvel”, who will become an idol and hero to many people like “Iron Man”, “Spider Man” and “Captain Marvel”, Iman Vellani replied cheerfully “No!”, making the scene a sea of laughter.

Iman Vellani confessed, “I didn’t feel much responsibility. I think the work itself will be vividly conveyed. I tried to capture all the difficulties and concerns that a teenage girl feels while growing up by adding Kamala’s unique personality. I think this is the reason why the audience likes ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’. You will definitely enjoy watching ‘Ms. Marvel’.”

When asked about Korean actor Park Seo-joon, who starred in “The Marvels”, Iman Vellani embarrassingly said, “I think he’s a really cool person. But it’s hard to say more than this.” She made everyone laugh by adding, “I swore in front of Kevin Feige that I would never give any spoilers. Please check it out a year later.” Iman Vellani also did not forget to say, “Marvel fans, this is a tribute to all teenagers in the world, people who love someone and everyone who is going through a chaotic time, so please enjoy it.”
