However, the cut videos of the drama are still deleted on Naver TV.

Earlier in March, the SBS drama “Joseon Exorcist,” written by Park Gye-ok, was abolished in controversy over historical distortion and was suspended after only 2 episodes.

After that, the drama “Mr. Queen,” the previous project of Park Gye-ok, has also been embroiled in controversy after it was revealed that the writer of the drama’s original Chinese webtoon and web drama, “Go Princess Go,” was known to have expressed hatred in other novels.

In particular, “Mr. Queen” was criticized for the scene where Shin Hye-sun (playing Kim So-yong) said, “It’s just meaningless rumors” about the Veritable Records of the Joseon Dynasty, which was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage at the time of broadcasting. The scene of caricature of The Royal Ancestral Ritual in the Jongmyo Shrine and its Music when a character said, “Until when will you make them dance the Jongmyo Shrine dance,” also sparked controversy. The drama was also protested by the Cho family members for depicting Queen Sinjeong, a real historical figure and a member of the Cho clan, in a vulgar way.

Since then, “Mr. Queen” has been halted on TVING, and its clip videos have been changed to private on YouTube. Videos such as replay and preview of the drama have also disappeared from its website as well.

On Naver Series On, you can purchase all episodes of “Mr. Queen.” The phrase “the product has been suspended from selling” used to appear but the paid service has now been resumed.

In relation to this, voices of criticism are increasing, such as “We should not resume services of works that raise controversy over historical distortion.”

The drama recorded the highest viewership rating of 17.4% at the time of broadcasting and ended on February 14th. However, its writer Park Gye-ok was embroiled in controversy over historical distortion in her next work “Joseon Exorcist“.
