Originally, Jung Ji-hoon had a lot of worries when he first encountered the script for “Race to Freedom: Uhm Bok-dong”. He said that when he first saw the title, he thought it was a family movie.

However, he revealed that he chose “Race to Freedom: Uhm Bok-dong” because of his trust in Lee Beom-soo, the producer and supporting actor who first suggested this work to him. Above all, he chose this work because he thought the plot and setting were great contents for Koreans.

Actually, Jung Ji-hoon and Lee Beom-soo were not close before “Race to Freedom: Uhm Bok-dong”. However, the person who connected the two was Lee Yoon-jin (Lee Beom-soo’s wife), who was Jung Ji-hoon’s exclusive English teacher when he was under JYP during his “Rain” days.

At that time, when Rain entered the global market, his agency attached Lee Yoon-jin to him for 24 hours and she gave him a tremendous amount of English education. He confessed that it was tough at the time, but thanks to her, he was able to master English quickly.
