Mountain Movement Story obtained exclusive broadcasting rights that allow Korean content to be regularly aired on Chinese OTT platforms.

On June 23rd, Mountain Movement Story said, “We recently signed a grand OTT contract in China and secured exclusive broadcasting rights to showcase various Korean content”

The contract is expected to create opportunities for Korean dramas to be exported to China.

Mountain Movement Story stated, “We have successfully signed a contract that allows us to exclusively broadcast Korean video content regularly every month on Chinese OTT platforms and broadcasting channels”, adding “This will be good news for the Korean drama production industry, which has been suffering difficulties due to the global economic recession.”

Mountain Movement Story produced dramas, such as “Man to Man” and the movie “Cheese in the Trap”, and established a developing relationship between China and Korea by achieving simultaneous broadcasting of “My Love from the Star” with a Chinese distributor. Mountain Movement Story’s CEO Hwang Ji Sun has been focusing on the globalization of Korean content by casting Chinese actors in the drama “Doctor Stranger” and introducing Chinese company PPL into Korean works for the first time.

In particular, it is expected to have a positive impact on the recent news of China’s restrictions on Korean content and products. CEO Hwang explained, “Currently, there is an increasing anti-Korean sentiment in China, but it is difficult to say whether there is an official ban or not”, adding “The fact that China banned Korean celebrities from appearing on Chinese broadcasts was shocking, but China actually restricted the entire Chinese entertainment industry, bringing about significant changes in the framework and establishing a thorough control system over production and taxation for celebrities.”

CEO Hwang added, “We believe that cultural diplomacy should continue, and we have carried out various projects. Upon obtaining broadcasting channel rights, we have received fair price through regular video content broadcasting every month.”

Lastly, CEO Hwang expressed, “I hope the cultural exchanges between the two countries will take place once again with the introduction of Korean dramas and movies in China”.

The public is raising expectations for the future activities of Mountain Movement Story, which previously played a crucial role in introducing various Hallyu content to China, as they have successfully achieved the right to broadcast Korean content in China after five years.
