“Love to Hate You” is a romantic comedy series was released on Netflix on Valentine’s Day. No need for a star-studded cast or inventive plot, “Love to Hate You” still waltzed its way into the audience’s heart. The series received praise from the audience for a perfect blend of comedic and sweet content about people who harbors mistrust about love and the opposite sexes.
Yeo Mi Ran (Kim Ok Bin) is a talented lawyer with a lot of personality. She loses her entire trust in men due to a traumatic experience in the past when she had to witness her father treating her mother badly. As she matured, the men around her did no behave any better. She always has to make efforts to be an independent and resourceful woman in all aspects of life to the point she even knows how to race cars and do martial arts.
Her character opposite is Nam Jang Ho (Yoo Teo), a top actor well-versed in romantic works but always stays alert and guarded against women. The symptoms are so severe that Nam Jang Ho has to take his medication for his anxiety disorder before doing intimate scenes with his co-stars. His mistrust for the opposite sex only grows with the years.
The two stumble across each other and go through different stages of hate and love: from conflict, misunderstanding to catching feelings and falling in love with each other. Using a familiar formula of the romance genre, “Love to Hate You” brings a “feel good” sensation for the viewers after bingeing the series.
