More hate comes Jennie’s way after “The Idol”

The Korean audience believes that BLACKPINK Jennie is damaging her reputation with her controversial role in “The Idol.”

Initially, both fans and the idol herself were elated when BLACKPINK Jennie got a role in a Hollywood production. However, when “The Idol” aired its first episode and well into the third, the series has drawn numerous controversies for an overtly degenerating perspective on women. Hate and criticism also came at Jennie because she intentionally chose to appear in this project.

As Dyanne, Jennie plays Jocelyn’s best friend and backup dancer. While there is a twist to Jennie’s character (she turns out to be in a cult headed by Tedros), she rarely had any appearance and mainly appeared beside male dancers performing suggestive choreography.

On Daily Naver, an audience member claimed that Jennie purportedly buried her career by agreeing to perform sexual dance moves with a seductive expression.

While netizens are not surprised when an idol crosses into acting, they feel perplexed by the BLACKPINK rapper’s decision to play a highly controversial supporting role in a much-scandalized series.

When the controversies rage on with “The Idol,” Jennie is also under a lot of hate from the incidents during the “BORN PINK” concert. In detail, Jennie walked off the stage midway through a performance in Melbourne. The singer apologized to fans and explained she was not in the best condition to finish the performance.

However, a group of netizens rumored that they saw Jennie at a hotpot place with other members right after the concert ended. In response, the public disapproved of her behavior and claimed that she had no more interest in being an idol and that her action was not respectful to fans.

Nonetheless, fans defended her by saying she looked exhausted and out of breath during the previous performances. They claimed she had had a hectic schedule and had to travel across continents for different activities in a matter of months.

All in all, Jennie is going through a rough patch with her acting debut and singing career. While negative opinions and criticisms are flung at her, Jennie keeps a positive attitude about her choice to join “The Idol”, stating it was a chance for her to be brave and be herself.
