“Money Heist: Berlin” made its debut on December 29 and snatched the crown in less than 48 hours. The show is sitting on the throne on Netflix of 75 countries.

Just like the name suggests, “Money Heist: Berlin” is breaking away from the “Money Heist” universe. It’s all about Berlin, the fan-favorite character from the entire series. In his solo act, Berlin revisits his glory days with the boldest and riskiest heist of his life, pulling off a virtual magic show to steal a 44-million-euro diamond collection.

“Money Heist: Berlin” is set in Paris with a cast of all fresh faces, the crew members from Berlin’s heist gang back in the day.

On Rotten Tomatoes, “Money Heist: Berlin” is stirring up mixed reviews among the critics. Some are applauding the on-screen chemistry, but the script is getting a lukewarm reception. Still, the main character, Berlin, is stealing the show with Pedro Alonso’s killer performance and charisma.

Alonso’s keeping Berlin’s signature quirks alive and well in this spin-off show, leaving the audience impressed. Berlin’s nonchalant attitude and that trademark smile might be as charming as ever, but it’s carrying the story. Even though Pedro Alonso’s north of 50, he’s still rocking it, holding his own against young actors.

Just three days into its release, “Money Heist: Berlin” is just getting started on its audience-conquering journey. Looks like Netflix is navigating the Money Heist world expansion on the screen pretty cautiously after a few trial and error experiences, like the previous Korean version.
