Mnet’s “I-LAND2” to conduct global audition tour to find new faces for global girl group

“I-LAND 2” will embark on a global search for the next group of female talents.

Mnet announced that its 2024 global girl group debut project named “I-LAND2” has received a large number of applications from 145 countries. It will close the online applications and start on-site auditions on August 12 in Canada.

The girl group formed through “I-LAND2” will work under WAKEONE, a management company known for many sensational global artists in the music market.

ZEROBASEONE, a boy group formed through Mnet’s survival show “Boys Planet,” recorded about 1.24 million sales (based on the Hanteo Chart) in just one day with its first mini-album “Youth in the Shade,” becoming a million seller title in one week.

In addition, Kep1er, another survival show’s girl group born through “Girls Planet 999,” completed the group’s first Japanese arena tour in May and June. At the same time, former IZ*ONE Jo Yuri recently came back with her second mini-album “LOVE ALL.” Other artists under WAKEONE include singer-songwriter Roy Kim, Ha Hyun Sang, Davichi, Im Seul Ong, TO1, and the dance crew Mbitious.

Earlier, Mnet announced the production of the second season of the global project “I-LAND” and opened an online application on its website. Applicants were required to showcase a variety of talents, including singing, rapping, and dancing, along with achievements from competitions and idol-related skills.

The program will also conduct offline auditions through North America, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, and Australia.

“I-LAND 2” will have top-class producer Teddy from The Black Label as its master producer. With a unique Mnet show format, “I-LAND 2” promises to captivate global audiences’ attention.

The first season of “I-LAND” released in June 2020 was a major success in capturing the tough competition and individuals’ dreams of becoming idols through a fresh narrative. The show received an Emmy Award for “Non-Scripted Entertainment.”

“I-LAND 2” is scheduled to air in the first half of next year.
