Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has officially requested additional BTS concert dates in Mexico through a diplomatic letter addressed to South Korean President Lee Jae Myung. The announcement was made during her regular press briefing on January 26 (local time).
President Sheinbaum highlighted the immense popularity of the global K-pop sensation BTS, who are scheduled to perform in Mexico this May as part of their world tour. “Tickets for BTS’s concerts in Mexico sold out quickly. While around 150,000 tickets were sold, over one million people hoped to attend,” she explained, expressing concern over the overwhelming demand.

She went on to say, “Three concerts are currently confirmed in Mexico City. I have made a respectful diplomatic request to the Korean President, asking if BTS can return to Mexico more frequently.”
Sheinbaum also suggested alternative solutions in case additional concerts aren’t possible, adding, “Even a large-scale screen broadcast would be appreciated.”

BTS is currently preparing for a 79-show global tour that spans Asia, North America, Europe, South America, and Oceania. The group is set to kick off their North American leg with performances at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, on April 25, 26, and 28. Their Mexico City concerts are scheduled for May 7, 9, and 10 at Estadio GNP Seguros.
