Scheduled to begin on April 9 at Goyang Stadium, BTS’s upcoming world tour ARIRANG will span 82 shows across 34 cities in North America, Europe, South America, Asia, and more. The ripple effect has been immediate and widespread.

According to data from Hotels.com, international searches for travel to Seoul surged by 155% within 48 hours of the tour’s announcement on January 14. Even more astonishing, searches for Busan, which will host concerts in June, skyrocketed by 2375%, particularly in countries/regions like Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Domestic interest also exploded—Busan travel searches rose by 3855%, and Seoul by 190%.

Global reactions have been just as intense. In Brazil, major news radio BandNews FM reported that searches for buses to São Paulo, where BTS will perform in October, increased more than 600 times following the tour announcement, citing data from local transportation platform ClickBus.

International media are also taking note. The UK’s The Guardian highlighted the economic magnitude of BTS’s tour, quoting economists who stated that such a global event could significantly impact urban economies across North America. They expect massive boosts in tourism, accommodation, and general consumer spending in each tour location.

Citing Bread Financial, the report added that a single concert ticket typically generates over three times its value in local economic activity. However, Tourism Economics, a tourism market research firm, emphasized that these averages don’t apply to BTS. “They will far exceed those figures,” they stated. “In fact, it’s difficult to even estimate the full extent of the tour’s economic impact.”

Beyond financial influence, BTS also plays a key role in boosting South Korea’s global image. In a recent survey by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, BTS topped the list of individuals who positively influence Korea’s national image. Member Jungkook also placed sixth among solo artists, further proving the group’s powerful individual and collective reach.

BTS is set to release their fifth full-length album, ARIRANG, on March 20 at 1 PM KST. The album will include 14 tracks, delving into themes of identity, longing, and deep affection—emotions expected to resonate with global listeners.
