MC Mong addresses recent rumors, “I have nothing to do with EXO CBX and SM’s dispute. I only tried to comfort Baekhyun”

MC Mong directly explained rumors of his involvement in the exclusive contract dispute between EXO CBX and SM Entertainment.

On June 2nd, MC Mong’s legal representative said, “MC Mong wants to make it clear that he did not make any intervention that could cause the dispute between SM Entertainment and EXO CBX (Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin). Since MC Mong is not Big Planet Made (BPM)’s internal director, related rumors are clearly not true”.

MC Mong’s lawyer continued, “MC Mong knows Baekhyun as senior and junior in the music industry”, adding “However, he has never used this personal relationship to attempt recruiting the artists. During their casual meeting, he only comforted his junior who was struggling with company problems. MC Mong firmly maintains his position that he had no involvement in inducing any illegal activities.”

They stated, “We ask SM to refrain from making unclear references to the third party to prevent further harm or misunderstandings towards MC Mong”, adding “MC Mong’s legal representative is always prepared to take legal actions against any spread of false information”, hinting at the possibility of firm responses.

Earlier on the 1st, Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin sent a notification to SM through their legal representatives to terminate their exclusive contract, claiming that they were forced to sign slave contracts. The three EXO members revealed that they sent several requests to SM to provide a copy of their settlement data but all of them were not accepted.

In response, SM released a statement on the same day, saying “We identified an external force that approached our artists and provided false information as well as incorrect legal assessments to make unreasonable proposals, such as terminating exclusive contracts with our company and signing contracts with them”.

“This external force not only seduces our artists to violate valid exclusive contracts with our company but also attempts to lure other artists from our company to violate exclusive contracts or sign double contracts. We will not overlook the act of those who only seek money and have no interest in the artists’ future or legitimate legal rights and will take all possible legal measures”, SM said.

Later, it was reported that the “external force” mentioned by SM was Big Planet Made Entertainment, known as the company where MC Mong is serving as an internal director. However, MC Mong directly refuted this claim.
