Manchester United are entering a major squad restructuring phase, with more than a month remaining before the 2026 summer transfer window closes.

According to The Sun, after completing several new signings, the “Red Devils” are still looking to bring in three more players. As a result, a number of current squad members could be forced to leave in order to balance the wage budget and create space in the squad.

Joshua Zirkzee is reportedly facing the most uncertain future at Old Trafford. After two seasons, the 25-year-old striker has scored only five Premier League goals, and Manchester United are willing to sell him if they receive a suitable offer. Serie A is considered a potential destination, especially given Zirkzee’s successful spell at Bologna before joining United.

Marcus Rashford is also among the players who could be moved on. After Barcelona decided against making his loan move permanent, the forward returned to Manchester United but may not be part of manager Michael Carrick’s plans. Rashford still has two years remaining on his contract and remains the highest-paid player at the club, but he has not featured for United since December 2024. Keeping a player earning £325,000 per week while no longer being part of the team’s plans is reportedly viewed as inconsistent with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s financial strategy for the club.

In the goalkeeper department, Altay Bayindir is also expected to leave Old Trafford. United have brought in Karl Darlow as a backup option, while Senne Lammens has been identified as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. Another goalkeeper, Radek Vitek, is also likely to be loaned out again or sold after an impressive season in the Championship.
The final name on the potential departure list is Diego Leon. The young Paraguayan defender arrived at Manchester United in the summer of 2025 with high expectations, but he has yet to train regularly with the first team in 2026. After months of only occasional appearances in matchday squads, Leon now faces the possibility of finding a new club in order to continue his development and revive his career.
