MAMAMOO‘s Hwasa confessed that she had been lost during the a-year-and-five-month period since her previous solo release “Maria.” What is the story behind her honest confession?

On November 24th, Hwasa reportedly held a media showcase to commemorate the release of her new single “Guilty Pleasure“. With this album, Hwasa delivers a message of courage and comfort with sincerity under the theme of Guilty Pledger.

On this day, the singer said, “I’m making a comeback with a new single in a year and five months,” adding, “In fact, I didn’t enjoy those times (her hiatus) much.”

She continued, “I think I lost my way because it was a time when the previous Hwasa and the present Hwasa were maturing,” adding, “I had a lot of bitter experiences on my way to grow bigger in my musical career.” “I had long and deep worries,” she said.

Hwasa‘s worries led to the birth of the new album’s title “Guilty Pleasure“. Hwasa said, “‘Guilty Pleasure’ means ‘I feel guilty, but I’m happy when I do it’. I’ve been wandering a lot for a year and five months. I chose this theme because I thought that my current feelings would fit perfectly with ‘Guilty Pleasure’.”

Hwasa‘s new title song “I’m a light” is the first song that she collaborated with a foreign producer as a solo artist. It stands out due to its addictive hook and Hwasa’s unique groovy voice.

When asked “What message do you want to convey through ‘I’m a light’?”, Hwasa replied, “‘Maria”s message was a little heavy, so I tried to lighten that heaviness. I wanted the new work to contain a little more pleasant poison.”

Hwasa‘s new single “Guilty Pleasure” will be released through major music sites at 6 p.m. on Nov 24.
