Male idol visiting club “Deeply reflect + pay attention to ensuring that such incidents do not recur”

TEMPEST's Hwarang clarified and apologized for private life controversy

On Feb 20th, the agency Yuehua Entertainment posted an announcement on the official fan cafe, addressing TEMPEST’s Hwarang‘s private life controversy.

Previously, a video call fan sign event video featuring Hwarang was circulated on SNS. In the video, when a fan said “I saw you at the club“, Hwarang replied, “Did you see me then?” He then added, “I didn’t do anything wrong. I just like music. I’ve never hung out with a girl. I never even thought about it.”

Hwarang was born in 2001, making him just 22 years old this year. While there may be negative perceptions about clubs, visiting one is not an issue as long as one is not a minor. However, the video included unsubstantiated private life allegations in subtitles, spreading as if they were facts.

In response, the agency ultimately released an official statement, expressing sincere apologies to the fans who were worried about Hwarang’s actions. They clarified, “The content circulated on SNS is not true, and Hwarang is deeply reflecting on visiting that place.

Regarding the private life allegations beyond visiting the club, the agency emphasized that they are all groundless. They added, “He has pledged not to repeat such behavior, and both our company and artist Hwarang will pay special attention to ensuring that such incidents do not recur.

Upon learning about this, some netizens reacted, feeling that it was excessive to publish an apology for an adult visiting a club. However, it seems the agency was concerned about the unsubstantiated private life allegations being perceived as true due to their presence in the video.

TEMPEST is a multinational boy group that debuted in March 2022 under Yuehua Entertainment.
