Taiwan’s legendary boy band Little Tigers (Xiao Hu Dui) may soon make a long-anticipated comeback. Comprising Alec Su (Su Youpeng), Nicky Wu (Wu Qilong), and Julian Chen (Chen Zhipeng), the trio dominated the Mandopop scene in the 1990s with timeless hits like “Green Apple Paradise” and “Red Dragonfly.” This week, the group announced the release of a “Little Tigers 35+ Collector’s Edition Vinyl Set”—a move that has reignited reunion rumors across Asia.

Fans have long dreamt of seeing the trio back on stage. According to former manager Miao Tulei, internal discussions between the members have “never stopped.” She remains hopeful that the right time will come for them to reunite in person:

“We are still working hard to find the perfect moment. I hope the group can stand together on stage again to repay the fans’ long wait.”

Formed during the Taiwanese variety show Youth Showdown, the Little Tigers were created as a male counterpart to the “Little Cats,” a female idol group. Over 4,000 students auditioned, with Su, Wu, and Chen emerging as the final picks.

Despite his young age, Alec Su—only 15 at the time—faced skepticism about his experience. But with encouragement from influential figures like Chang Hsiao-Yen, he quickly rose in popularity and became a beloved member of the group.

Each member brought unique strengths: Su was passionate about performance despite lacking a dance background; Wu served as the team stabilizer and coordinator; and Chen juggled heavy school and filming schedules. Their synergy led to early success, including a fan-signed event that drew tens of thousands, overwhelming the venue and garnering national media attention.

This explosive popularity led to their debut album and a series of pioneering “container concerts”—mobile stage events held across Taiwan each weekend, often drawing crowds in the tens of thousands.

Although the members have since pursued successful solo careers, their shared legacy has left an enduring mark. A recent reunion performance at a televised gala sparked viral attention and was voted the highlight of the event—proof that the group’s star power remains undimmed.

The announcement of their 35th anniversary vinyl collection is seen not just as a nostalgic release but potentially a prelude to a long-awaited reunion performance —a wish fans hope will finally come true in 2025.
