Lisa (BLACKPINK) Submits for 2025 Grammy Nominations, Faces Harsh Criticism from Netizens

Lisa (BLACKPINK) Aims for the Grammys: Bold Nominations Spark Both Ambition and Backlash

Recently, the media updated on the artists and record labels submitting nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards. As one of the most prestigious awards in the music industry, the Grammys always attract immense attention every award season. In recent years, Asian artists—especially in K-pop—have been nurturing their “Grammy dream.”

However, aside from BTS, who have received three nominations, no K-pop artist has truly conquered this demanding award. This year, Lisa (BLACKPINK) drew attention by submitting nominations in multiple categories for the Grammys.

This year, Lisa (BLACKPINK) drew attention by submitting nominations in multiple categories for the Grammys.

Specifically, the youngest member of the global girl group has submitted major nominations for her two recently released singles, ROCKSTAR and New Woman. Among these, New Woman was submitted for four categories: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Music Video, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. For ROCKSTAR, Lisa and her label submitted for the Best Pop Solo Performance category.

After leaving YG, Lisa has been expanding her career on a global scale. The Thai idol has released English songs and promoted on various world-class stages. After the 2024 VMAs, it is not surprising that Lisa is “ambitiously” aiming for the Grammys.

However, this ambition has led to mockery from netizens. On K-pop forums, many people claimed that Lisa is overestimating herself. Her works have consistently faced criticism over quality, plagiarism scandals, and more recently, accusations of obvious lip-syncing. Netizens have been relentlessly “bringing Lisa down,” with harsh comments claiming that the idol is not deserving of a Grammy.

This has caused Lisa’s fans to become furious. They argue that Grammy submissions are only made when a product meets the award’s criteria. To become an official nomination, the submission must pass the scrutiny of the Grammy committee.

Mocking Lisa for submitting to the Grammys is a “toxic” act, solely intended to undermine the artist. Over the past year, Lisa has broken numerous impressive music records, leading the way among K-pop female solo artists. There’s no reason to stop Lisa from dreaming of holding the golden Grammy trophy.
