Taiwanese actress and supermodel Lin Chi Ling is reportedly facing large-scale ban rumors across Chinese social media after she was suddenly removed from projects airing on China’s national broadcaster.
On May 27, Chinese media outlet Sohu reported that the actress, often referred to as “China’s most desired beauty,” had been completely erased from multiple programs linked to CCTV. Lin Chi Ling was originally cast in a cameo role for the prime-time drama “The Way You Come Back”, starring Yang Zi and Ou Hao. She had previously been listed as an important guest star just below the two leads.

However, when the production team released the official cast lineup on May 25 ahead of the drama’s broadcast, Lin Chi Ling’s name was nowhere to be found. Not only was her name removed, but all of her scenes including solo and group shots were reportedly edited out entirely, as if she had never participated in the project.
The actress was also reportedly erased from the popular variety show “Mao Xue Wang,” which she had already filmed. Earlier promotional trailers featured Lin Chi Ling discussing her married life, parenting experiences, and even humorously demonstrating how to grab supermarket discount items while maintaining her elegant image.

However, on the day of broadcast, the production team abruptly changed the airing schedule and instead released an episode featuring Tan Song Yun and Dong Qing. The original trailer containing Lin Chi Ling’s appearance was also deleted from the show’s official Weibo account.
The reason behind Lin Chi Ling’s apparent removal from national television projects has become a hot topic among Chinese netizens. In recent years, the actress has largely stepped away from the entertainment industry to focus on her family and raising her child. However, some online sources have claimed that she may have been punished or unofficially blacklisted in mainland China after allegedly “crossing lines that should not have been crossed.”

Despite the growing speculation surrounding a possible industry ban, Lin Chi Ling has not released any official statement regarding the rumors.
Lin Chi Ling has long been regarded as one of the ultimate beauty icons in Chinese entertainment. She was once the highest-paid and most sought-after model in Taiwan and gained popularity not only for her visuals but also for her intelligence, eloquence, and educational background. Despite facing several personal controversies throughout her career, she has consistently ranked among the most admired and desired female celebrities on online communities such as Hupu and Douban.
The actress married Japanese singer Akira in 2019. The couple later faced difficulties while trying to conceive. Lin Chi Ling reportedly froze her eggs and underwent multiple IVF procedures before successfully giving birth to their son in early 2022.
