Like Ko Young-wook and Jung Joon-young… “Sex offender” Seungri’s Instagram account has been deactivated

Former BIG BANG member Seungri, who was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison on charges of sex crimes, reportedly disappeared from Instagram.

From May 30th, if go to Seungri’s Instagram, you will find that all the posts have been deleted. This is because sex offenders are not allowed to create and run accounts on SNS, such as Instagram, Facebook, etc.

On its Customer Help Center page, Instagram said, “Convicted sex offenders are not allowed to use Instagram. If users are confirmed to be sex offenders, their accounts will be deactivated immediately”.

They also explained, “If you’ve encountered an account that may belong to a convicted sex offender, please use this form to let us know”, adding, “We require documentation verifying that this person is a convicted sex offender before we can process your report.”

Specifically, if one is reported to be a convicted sex offender through either ▲link to online news articles, ▲link to court documents or ▲link to the national registered sex offender list, their account will be deactivated.

Singer Ko Young-wook, who was previously sentenced to prison for sexual assault and sexual harassment of minors, singer Jung Joon-young and FT Island’s Choi Jong-hoon, who were sentenced to prison for sex crimes, also had their Instagram accounts deactivated.

Seungri was indicted on charges of arranging sex trade several times for investors in Taiwan, Japan, and Hong Kong from December 2015 to January of the following year to attract investment for his clubs and financial investment businesses. He was sentenced to one and a half years in prison on May 26th.

Seungri, who was in pending prison at the Armed Forces Prison, will be transferred to a nearby civilian prison and will stay imprisoned until February 2023.
