According to reports cited by Chinese media outlet 163, the allegations surfaced after the actor’s girlfriend publicly shared screenshots of messages and audio recordings that she claims prove Li Baiyang repeatedly met Lu Jin in secret while still in a relationship with her.
The girlfriend stated that during their nearly one-year relationship, Li Baiyang allegedly took advantage of moments when the couple was experiencing conflicts or “cold wars” to secretly meet his co-star. He also reportedly used excuses such as leaving the film set early in order to arrange private meetings with Lu Jin.
She further claimed that although the couple were living together in Hangzhou, with the actor’s phone location tracking turned on and surveillance cameras installed in their home, Li Baiyang still managed to avoid detection while meeting the actress.
In response to the accusations, Lu Jin released a statement saying that she had no idea Li Baiyang had a girlfriend when they first became close. According to her explanation, she only discovered the truth in September 2025 and immediately cut off contact with the actor afterward. She also accused Li Baiyang of lying to her by claiming that he had already broken up with his girlfriend, insisting that she herself had also been deceived.
However, Li Baiyang’s girlfriend questioned this claim, pointing out that even after Lu Jin said she had cut ties with him, their schedules reportedly showed them appearing in the same locations multiple times. She also alleged that during the period in question, Lu Jin was still living with her former boyfriend Zheng Yuantong despite not publicly announcing their breakup.
Following the controversy, Zheng Yuantong stepped forward to defend Lu Jin, saying she had become an “unwilling third party” in the situation. He clarified that the two had already broken up in May 2025 and denied any claims that Lu Jin had cheated while they were still in a relationship.
Zheng Yuantong explained that after their breakup, the pair continued to post subtle hints about their relationship on social media because they did not want their families and friends to worry. For that reason, they delayed announcing the breakup for as long as possible.
He also said that although they had separated emotionally, they still decided to continue living in the same residence due to their busy work schedules, which meant they rarely spent time at home anyway. According to him, the arrangement was made out of convenience rather than romantic reasons.
Zheng Yuantong added that since they had already broken up, both of them had the right to pursue their own happiness. He emphasized that Lu Jin had no obligation to inform him about her personal relationships after their split.
So far, Li Baiyang has not issued an official response to the accusations. His social media accounts remain active and continue promoting his upcoming projects. However, some sources suggest that the short drama Wang Yan Fei, in which he plays the male lead, could face delays due to the ongoing controversy.
Born in 1997, Li Baiyang first gained public attention after appearing on the survival show CHUANG 2021. Although he did not debut through the program, the exposure helped him attract an early fanbase.
After the show, Li Baiyang shifted his focus to acting. In recent years, he has mainly appeared in the rapidly growing web short-drama market in China, frequently taking on leading roles thanks to his youthful image and screen presence. The current scandal, however, has placed his rising career under intense scrutiny as discussions continue to spread across social media.
