On the evening of May 6th, the “58th Baeksang Arts Awards” was held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Goyang, Gyeonggi-do. “Escape from Mogadishu” won the Best Picture award in the film category.
Kang Hye-jung, CEO of Filmmaker R&K, the film company that created “Escape from Mogadishu”, delivered her acceptance speech and her plans to produce future works.
In particular, the mention of Season 2 of “Veteran”, which was greatly loved, attracted many people’s attention.
CEO Kang Hye-jung said, “We plan to film ‘Veteran 2’ this year.”
She added, “We’ll always do our best to make a better movie at the forefront of Korean cinema without taking a break.”
“Veteran”, which was released in 2015, is a crime entertainment action film about the activities of a veteran wide-area investigation team in pursuit of the third-generation heir Jo Tae-oh (Yoo Ah-in).
Hwang Jung-min, Yoo Ah-in, Yoo Hae-jin, Oh Dal-su appeared, and Ma Dong-seok made a special appearance as Big guy with sportswear, leaving a strong impact.
Earlier, regarding “Veteran 2”, director Ryoo Seung-wan said in an interview with Star News that he had an idea of drawing a confrontation between “Veteran” Hwang Jung-min and “The Outlaws” Ma Dong-seok.
He shared, “I met Ma Dong-seok and joked ‘How about making (“The Outlaws” Ma Dong-seok) the twin brother of Big guy with sportswear?”
Revealing that he has come up with many ideas for “Veteran 2”, director Ryu Seung-wan said, “Since unexpectedly strong works have been made, stories of such universes also appeared. I also thought ‘What if the detective in ‘Veteran’ and Pastor Park (Lee Jung-jae) in ‘Svaha’ meet each other?’”, drawing attention.
Lastly, director Ryu Seung-wan emphasized that he would think of it over and over again and complete the scenario.
