On the 24th, a video titled “Lee Soo-hyuk Is Truly a Famous Fan of Lee Young-ji” was uploaded on Lee Young-ji’s YouTube channel, “Nothing Much Prepared”. Before actor Lee Soo-hyuk appeared in the video, Lee Young-ji introduced an alcoholic product she received as an advertisement or sponsorship. She emphasized, “You shouldn’t drink this before riding a bike; it’s drunk driving.”
This led to some speculation that Lee Young-ji was taking a shot at BTS’s Suga, who had been involved in a drunk driving incident on an electric scooter. Suga is accused of violating road traffic laws after falling off an electric scooter on the street in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, around 11:15 PM on the 6th of last month. His blood alcohol content at the time of the accident was found to be 0.227%, far exceeding the license cancellation threshold of 0.08%.
Previously, on the 23rd, Suga appeared at Yongsan Police Station in Seoul for a nearly three-hour investigation. According to the police, Suga admitted to the drunk driving charges during the questioning.
After the investigation, Suga issued a second handwritten apology. In his letter posted on the fan community Weverse the day before, he stated, “I deeply apologize for disappointing and hurting the fans and everyone who loves me due to my wrongful actions. I forgot my responsibility to act in a manner befitting the love I’ve received and committed a serious mistake.”
He continued, “On the night of the 6th, I made the mistake of riding an electric scooter on the sidewalk after drinking. I also apologize for the confusion caused by the hastily written first apology posted on the 7th.”
Suga added, “This incident has left a significant blemish on the precious memories I’ve created with the members and fans and has tarnished BTS’s name. I’m sorry that my fellow members, who have always believed in me, had to go through a difficult time because of me. I only have feelings of regret for the fans who have always given me more love than I deserve.”
