“What did Lee Jung-jae do wrong?” Lee Young-ja’s “noodle slurping” controversy, the reason why viewers exploded
Viewers exploded regarding the controversy over noodle slurping on MBC’s entertainment show “Point of Omniscient Interfere”.
On August 17th, a post titled “The reason why the controversy over noodle slurping is especially hot” was uploaded on the online community theqoo.
The post contained a comparison between the noodle-slurping scenes shown by celebrities on various entertainment programs and the noodle-slurping scene on “Point of Omniscient Interfere“.
The post’s author explained, “Point of Omniscient Interfere’s noodle-slurping scene became controversial because some people started to criticize Lee Jung-jae, who doesn’t slurp noodles.”
The author added, “Because of the show’s influence, some people criticized those who don’t slurp noodles. Those who don’t know Korean culture at all think that slurping noodles is a unique culture. The broadcasting station makes it look like that and takes no responsibility.”
Other netizens agreed, “This is right”, “I don’t like seeing people forcing others to slurp noodles”, “It’s polite not to make sounds during a meal”…
Earlier, on MBC’s entertainment program “Point of Omniscient Interfere”, which aired on August 13th, actors Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung ate spicy noodles with Lee Young-ja.
Lee Jung-jae did not eat all the noodles he picked up with chopsticks at once, but cut off an appropriate amount. While he was keeping his head down and eating quietly without making a sound, Lee Young-ja complained, “Why don’t you make sounds when eating noodles? You don’t make any sound. Ah, you should make sounds.”
