On January 19, at the 10th Korea Musical Awards, Lee Sung Kyung was honored with the Best Newcomer Award (Female) for her role in the musical Aladdin, marking a major milestone in her career.
Overcome with emotion as she accepted the award, Lee introduced herself humbly, “I am musical actress Lee Sung Kyung.” Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “This is something I’ve dreamed of for about 16 years. I love musical theater so much that, the more I dreamed about it, the more I felt it might be too precious and distant. To be able to stand here through Aladdin has truly been a great fortune and the happiest year of my life.”

Aladdin tells the magical story of Aladdin’s journey and romance in the mystical kingdom of Agrabah. In the musical, Lee Sung Kyung portrayed Princess Jasmine, delivering a memorable performance filled with captivating vocals and stage presence—even as her musical debut. Her visual charm and dynamic interpretation of the character earned her the affectionate nickname “Bismine (Biblee + Jasmine)” from fans, highlighting her unique take on the beloved role.
