Lee Sun-kyun’s coffin rites to be held this morning (Dec 28th)

According to the police, a 112 report was received at around 10:12 AM on Dec 27th from Lee Sun-kyun’s manager, stating, “Lee Sun-kyun wrote a memo similar to a will and left home.”

The police discovered Lee Sun-kyun’s vehicle in a park in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul at around 10:30 AM. At the time, Lee Sun-kyun was unconscious. He eventually passed away. There are indications at the scene that suggest an attempted extreme choice.

The deceased’s mortuary was set up in room 1 on the 3rd floor of Seoul National University Hospital Funeral Hall. Lee Sun-kyun’s wife, actress Jeon Hye-jin, was named in the list of chief mourners. After going through the coffin-entering process at 11 AM on Dec 28th, the coffin will be borne the next day. The burial will take place in Seonyeong, Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do.

Lee Sun-kyun was investigated by the police for about 2 months since October on charges related to marijuana and psychotropic drugs under the Narcotics Control Act.

With Lee Sun-kyun’s passing, it appears that the investigation into his drug-related charges will be concluded as having no legal basis.

Meanwhile, Lee Sun-kyun, who debuted in 2001 with MBC’s sitcom “Lovers”, appeared in various dramas such as “Coffee Prince” (2007), “Pasta” (2010), “My Mister” (2018) and movies like “Helpless” (2012), “A Hard Day” (2014), “Sleep” (2023). He gained international recognition for his lead role in director Bong Joon-ho’s film “Parasite” (2019), which is the first Korean film to win the Palme d’Or.
