On August 19, media speculation arose about veteran Korean actor Lee Soon-jae’s condition after Park mentioned during a press conference for the play Waiting for Godot that he had attempted to visit Lee multiple times but was unable to do so. “He seemed reluctant, so I couldn’t meet him in person. I’ve only been hearing updates through others, and it doesn’t seem like a good situation,” Park shared.
In response, a representative from Lee’s agency told several media outlets that there is “no health issue at all.” The official explained, “He’s simply undergoing rehabilitation treatment due to weakness in his legs. He eats well and speaks comfortably.”

The agency added that Lee is currently wearing patient attire, which led him to politely decline in-person visits out of respect, especially from fellow actors. “He even spoke with Park Geun-hyung over the phone,” the representative clarified.
Born in 1935, Lee Soon-jae had stepped down from his role in Waiting for Godot last year due to health reasons. However, he appeared in good spirits earlier this year when he accepted the Grand Prize at the 2024 KBS Entertainment Awards for his appearance in Dog Knows Everything, where he delivered a heartfelt speech that reassured fans of his well-being.
