Actor Lee Si Eon showed off his frank volubility.
On Dec 24th, a new video was uploaded on Lee Si Eon’s YouTube channel “Si Eon’s School”.
In the video, Lee Si Eon, Seo In Guk, Eun Ji Won and Lee Ho Won held a meeting to commemorate the 10th anniversary of “Reply 1997”.
When asked “Did you guys know that the drama would be a huge success?“, Seo In Guk replied, “No one knew.” Lee Si Eon recalled, “I lived with In Guk at that time and we cried after watching episode 1.“
Seo In Guk smilingly said, “Lee Si Eon always thought the drama would fail and he said that to the director.” Lee Si Eon revealed, “I asked the director ‘Who’s gonna do the lead?’ and he said ‘You might not know him. In Guk’. I was like ‘That Superstar K guy? Ugh’.” Seo In Guk added, “He told the director that it’s okay if he excludes him but if he sticks to this casting then the drama would fail.“
Lee Ho Won said, “I also heard that he complained about having too many singers in this drama.” Lee Si Eon confessed, “When i said that, the director told me ‘Then you should be a singer too’. I was casted by the director of ‘I Need Romance’ and I had to choose one because they would be aired consecutively. I chose ‘Reply’.“
Seo In Guk talked about the situation at the time, “I also thought this would not go well. I was assigned to another role before but the audition was not just for that role. There was not a specific role. He just tried to find the right role for me. I read all of the lines. When I read Yoon Jae’s lines, the director was like ‘You should do Yoon Jae’ but I initially said no. I think Director Shin is my hero. When I could not do any shows from other broadcasts since Superstar K was Mnet’s, Director Shin allowed me to do ‘Qualifications of Men’. So I didn’t want him to fail because of me.“
