On April 6, attorney Yoon Yong Seok from Law Firm Hyunmyung, who represents Lee Seung Gi, released an official statement confirming that the artist notified the agency of contract termination in late March due to violations of the exclusive contract. As a result, the contract has been legally terminated.
The attorney explained, “Despite various issues surrounding the agency, including the departure of affiliated artists and partial non-payment of settlement fees, the artist initially tried to maintain a relationship based on trust. However, settlement payments have not been made from September of last year until now, and there have also been problems with support for the artist’s activities, as well as payments to on-site staff and external partners.”
He continued, “In order to secure transparency in settlements, the artist requested access to basic documents related to the contract. However, this request was also refused without justifiable reason,” clarifying the grounds for termination.
The statement added, “Moving forward, the artist will do his best to prevent any unforeseen damage to partners involved due to this situation and will continue to carry out his scheduled activities without disruption. Above all, he will continue his entertainment career with a strong sense of responsibility so as not to disappoint fans and staff working on site.”
Meanwhile, Big Planet responded to the termination notice in a statement to Xports News, saying, “We are currently making every effort to normalize management as soon as possible and are continuing discussions to resolve the matter amicably.”
