Lee Seung Gi “3 billion won more” vs Hook Entertainment “900 million won more”, legal battle begins

Singer-actor Lee Seung Gi’s former agency Hook Entertainment claimed that he had to pay back 900 million won, saying they paid Lee Seung Gi more than reality for advertising activities. Lee Seung Gi’s side is rather in the position to receive 3 billion won more from Hook Entertainment.

On June 23rd, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Agreement Division 20 (Chief Judge Lee Se Ra) held the first pleading date for Hook Entertainment’s lawsuit against Lee Seung Gi to confirm the non-existence of debt. Lee Seung Gi also argued with Hook Entertainment about the counterclaim he filed while claiming settlement money.

Hook Entertainment reportedly changed the purpose of the claim prior to the argument. The original point of the claim was that they would not pay Lee Seung Gi any money, but the change was made to the effect that Lee Seung Gi should pay back 900 million won in the settlement of overpaid advertising fees.

On the other hand, Lee Seung Gi’s side refuted, “Hook Entertainment has been paying 10% less from advertising revenue while hiding the fact that the advertising agency commission rate has been lowered from 10% to 7%. Hook Entertainment should pay more for advertising activities.”

Lee Seung Gi’s side is in the position to receive 3 billion won from Hook Entertainment, including advertising agency fees and revenue from songs and albums.

The court decided to hold the next pleading date on August 25th for the collection of data related to the settlement amount and the confirmation of the witness examination plan.
