Lee Seo Jin made the remarks during a live broadcast on the YouTube channel Channel Fullmoon, where he was giving advice to viewers. One fan shared a dilemma about receiving a mobile wedding invitation from a friend they had not contacted in seven years, asking whether they should still send money as a congratulatory gift.
Responding bluntly, Lee Seo Jin questioned the situation, implying that such a gesture lacked sincerity. He stated that if it were him, he would neither attend the wedding nor maintain the relationship, adding that receiving a mobile invitation from someone who had not stayed in touch felt inappropriate.
He emphasized that proper etiquette would involve meeting in person, sharing a meal, and personally delivering the invitation. Expressing clear dislike for sending money through bank transfers, he said, “I hate it when people just send an account number.”
Lee Seo Jin further shared his personal rule, saying, “If I don’t go to the wedding, I never send money. Sending money without attending is not something I do.” He explained that congratulatory money should accompany genuine attendance, not replace it.
While producer Na Young Seok offered a more understanding perspective, suggesting the friend may have reached out after much thought, Lee Seo Jin maintained his stance, insisting that the practice of sending money without attending is a misguided custom.
