Lee Se-young Opens Up About Friend’s Betrayal: “My Closest Friend Created My Anti-fan Site”

On the latest episode of tvN's “You Quiz on the Block”, actress Lee Se-young candidly shared a painful experience of betrayal by her once-trusted friend.

The episode, which aired on September 25th, featured a special segment titled “I Make Myself”, where Lee Se-young reflected on her career and personal experiences.

Lee Se-young first rose to prominence through her role in the hit drama “Jewel in the Palace”, where she played Geum-young, a character jealous of the protagonist Jang-geum’s innate culinary talents. Recalling that time, Lee Se-young shared, “When I went to school then, my classmates would tease me about my role.”

However, the actress’s newfound fame brought unexpected challenges. Lee Se-young revealed a shocking incident involving a close friend. “After ‘Jewel in the Palace’ became popular, I found out that a friend had created an anti-fan site dedicated to me”, she explained. “I first noticed something was wrong when my parents were looking at something on the computer and warned me, ‘Don’t be too close to the friend you’re hanging out with these days.’ At the time, I pretended not to hear them.”

The truth came to light in a startling way. “One day at school, other friends asked me, ‘Are you still hanging out with that person who created an anti-cafe for you?’” Lee Se-young recounted. “When I confronted her, asking, ‘Did you really do that?’, she admitted, ‘I did. I’m sorry.’ But what was even more hurtful was that even after apologizing, she continued to run the anti-cafe.”

Despite these personal challenges, Lee Se-young remained committed to both her acting career and her studies. She humorously reflected on her academic ambitions, saying, “I used to think, ‘I’m the center of the whole universe.’ I was convinced I’d be the No.1 student when I entered middle school. But reality quickly set in, and I realized that wasn’t the case.” She laughed, showing her ability to find humor even in past disappointments.
