lee mu jin unpaid settlement lawsuit

Lee Mu Jin has filed an injunction request seeking to suspend the validity of his exclusive contract with Big Planet Made Entertainment, claiming he has not received approximately 2.1 billion KRW in unpaid settlement earnings.

On May 27, the Civil Agreement Division 50 of the Seoul Central District Court, led by Presiding Judge Lee Sang Hoon, held a hearing regarding the injunction request submitted by Lee Mu Jin.

During the hearing, Lee Mu Jin’s legal representative explained, “We previously notified the agency of the termination of the exclusive contract due to the company’s violation of its settlement obligations.” The lawyer added, “However, Lee Mu Jin is still listed as an artist under the agency on portal sites and other platforms, so judicial clarification is necessary for him to continue his entertainment activities safely.”

Lee Mu Jin’s side further stated that the total unpaid amount from the agency reached approximately 2.1 billion KRW.

In response, Big Planet Made Entertainment argued that the delay in payment could not be attributed entirely to the company’s fault. However, the agency also stated, “If Lee Mu Jin wishes to suspend the effectiveness of the exclusive contract, we are willing to accept that.”

This effectively means the company is prepared to agree to Lee Mu Jin’s request to halt the contract regardless of the separate dispute surrounding unpaid settlement fees.

The agency additionally expressed disappointment over the situation, stating, “We have spent many years together, so the company feels devastated that things are ending this way simply because the company has recently faced difficulties.”

The court announced that both parties would be given approximately three weeks to attempt negotiations regarding the termination of the exclusive contract. If no agreement is reached, the legal proceedings will continue.

Lee Mu Jin reportedly notified Big Planet Made Entertainment of his intention to terminate the contract back in March before officially filing the injunction request on May 7.

It has also been reported that Lee Mu Jin is considering filing a separate main lawsuit in the future to formally demand payment of the unpaid settlement earnings.
