On July 22, a new video titled “Informative: The Current State of the U.S. Explained by Lee Min-jung’s Friend Who’s Survived 18 Years in America” was uploaded to Lee Min-jung’s YouTube channel.
During her trip to Los Angeles, Lee Min-jung reunited with a close friend from high school who currently lives in LA. As they caught up, Lee Min-jung opened up about a frightening experience that occurred the previous year.
“There haven’t been any incidents this year, but last year, news broke about a burglary at our home. Fortunately, we didn’t suffer any major losses,” she revealed. “But the drawers were all smashed.”
In January last year, a break-in occurred at the LA mansion owned by Lee Min-jung and her husband, actor Lee Byung-hun. According to U.S. entertainment media, citing the LAPD, the incident was not a targeted burglary of the actor’s home but rather part of a string of break-ins across upscale neighborhoods in Los Angeles.

At the time, Lee Byung-hun’s agency, BH Entertainment, confirmed the incident: “It is true that there was a burglary at Lee Byung-hun’s home in the U.S. Thankfully, there was no financial damage.”
Lee Min-jung’s friend chimed in, “That’s because they were in a rush to grab whatever they could.” Lee Min-jung added, “So we took extra precautions. We installed something like steel shutters.” Her friend commented, “You put in shutters,” to which Min-jung responded with a laugh, “Yes, we installed shutters.”
Lee Min-jung went on to say, “Public safety is something that a lot of Americans are talking about right now.” Her friend added, “Since it’s the U.S., and people can legally own firearms, I wouldn’t say safety is guaranteed. Even when I go to church, there are security guards at the entrance, many of whom are former police officers. They check everyone’s bags before entering.”
Her account of daily life in America and the heightened need for security appeared to genuinely surprise Lee Min-jung.
