On September 26, a new video titled “K-POP’s Trade Secrets, It’s Time to Talk (feat. Caution for Your Ears)” was uploaded to Lee Mi-joo‘s YouTube channel “Just Lee Mi-joo”.
In the video, Mi-joo gathered with close friends Red Velvet’s Seulgi, Oh My Girl’s Hyojung, KARA’s Youngji, and Mamamoo’s Moonbyul for what they called a “Princess Party.” Joking about the group, Mi-joo said, “It’s our first time broadcasting as a full five-member lineup. I’m scared,” drawing laughter.

As the conversation shifted to their second-generation idol days, Hyojung recalled once borrowing Lovelyz’s stage outfits: “Some members couldn’t even zip it up. I realized then how thin the seniors really were.”

Mi-joo shared her own struggles, admitting her favorite outfit was the school uniform concept from “Candy Jelly Love.” But she also revealed, “I was on the fuller side back then and barely managed to zip it. It was such a shock that I lost 8kg for our ‘Ah-Choo’ promotions.” Standing 165cm tall, she recalled dieting down to 44kg before eventually returning to 46kg, exposing the harsh reality of idol weight pressures. Moonbyul responded, “If I had to pull off Lovelyz or Oh My Girl’s concepts, I probably would’ve quit,” expressing admiration.
Mi-joo then revealed a harrowing incident from her “Destiny” promotions. She explained that just before going on stage, she noticed the sole of her high heels was peeling. After requesting a replacement, her stylist allegedly refused, saying there wasn’t time. Forced to perform in the faulty shoes, Mi-joo twisted her ankle on stage, held back tears to finish the performance, and eventually fell.

The injury turned out to be a torn ligament, landing her in the emergency room. Shockingly, she recalled, “A company staff member came and said, ‘(The fall) wasn’t caught on camera,’” leaving her devastated.

Her friends expressed outrage, with Youngji, who often jokes around with Mi-joo, angrily snapping, “They deserve to go to hell.” Mi-joo added, “After that, I only wore sneakers,” revealing how the traumatic experience shaped her stage habits.
This rare candid revelation has sparked conversations online about the extreme pressures and mistreatment idols often endure behind the glamorous façade of the K-pop industry.
