Lee Kang-in’s legal representative “Lee Kang-in punched Son Heung-min in the face? It’s not true”

Lee Kang-in’s legal representative said on Feb 15th, “Misleading information is being amplified and reproduced as if it were true. We want to correct this. The articles claiming that Lee Kang-in punched Son Heung-min in the face when Son Heung-min grabbed Lee Kang-in by the collar are not true.”

They continued, “During the time Lee Kang-in was playing table tennis, senior players were also present, and table tennis had always been played before that day.”

They added, “Lee Kang-in deeply regrets and reflects on his mistakes. Once again, we apologize to many football fans for causing discomfort and concern. Lee Kang-in thinks that instead of explaining the specific details of the dispute, it is appropriate to apologize as he was at the center of the conflict.“

In the recent 2023 Qatar Asian Cup, there was discord within the national team, which was first reported by the British media outlet “The Sun” on Feb 13th.

Reports emerged of a physical altercation between players during dinner time the night before the Jordan match, resulting in Son Heung-min suffering a dislocated finger injury.

Young players, including Lee Kang-in, were playing table tennis after finishing dinner early when they were asked to stop by Son Heung-min, leading to a scuffle between Son Heung-min and Lee Kang-in.

Senior players later requested Coach Klinsmann to exclude Lee Kang-in from the Jordan match.

Lee Kang-in publicly apologized on social media on Feb 14th, admitting to the discord.

However, on Feb 15th, a domestic media outlet reported that Lee Kang-in punched Son Heung-min after being grabbed by the collar, prompting a swift rebuttal from Lee Kang-in’s legal representative.
