On July 8, tvN’s You Quiz on the Block released a preview featuring Lee Jun-young ahead of the episode’s broadcast.

During the preview, host Yoo Jae-suk brought up Lee Jun-young’s widely praised actions from the past. “You chased down a suspected drunk driver and helped catch them. That’s incredible,” Yoo said, referring to the incident in which Lee reported a suspected drunk-driving vehicle to police and followed it until officers arrived.

Back in 2021, Lee Jun-young made headlines after pursuing a vehicle he suspected was being driven by someone under the influence for about an hour before helping police safely apprehend the driver. Although he was later offered a Model Citizen Award for his actions, Lee declined the honor, saying he did not want to receive an award simply because the story had become public.

Recalling the incident, Lee said, “At the time, I was briefly talking to my agency’s CEO on the phone. I told him, ‘Hyung, I need to take care of something for a moment,’ and hung up.”

The program then showed audio from Lee’s emergency call and footage from his vehicle’s dashcam recorded during the incident.

In the recording, Lee calmly tells the dispatcher, “I’m near the Jangan Bridge exit, and I think the car in front of me is being driven by someone under the influence.”

Lee also explained the mindset that kept him following the vehicle. “Rather than letting that driver crash into someone else, I thought, ‘If anything happens, just crash into my car instead,'” he said, drawing attention for his willingness to put himself at risk to protect others.

The episode also features Lee discussing his upcoming military enlistment on July 21.

Yoo Jae-suk asked, “You’ll be enlisting on July 21, right in the middle of summer. How are you feeling?”

Lee answered honestly, “It feels like I’m on a roller coaster. I probably shouldn’t say this, but even while filming, I suddenly feel down. Sometimes I get emotional over things that aren’t even emotional scenes.”

He continued, “There were a few adults I looked at and thought, ‘I don’t want to live like that.’ But those people all completed their military service too, didn’t they? So why wouldn’t I be able to do it? That’s what I keep telling myself.”

Meanwhile, Lee Jun-young’s episode of You Quiz on the Block airs on July 8 at 8:45 p.m. KST.
